Surat Shabad Meditation
Suratà
The Consciousness, or Soul- Consciousness is spread throughout the body, The Soul function to focus to have attention on one point or subject, to Concentrate on one thought. Accordingly, Focus your consciousness in deep absorption on the Lord. In this Meditation we are using The Soul to focus on the God`s remembrance, prayer through Gurbani.
In nature there is a power that manages everything with discipline from day to night, birth to death. Anything you look at nature functions with discipline from start to end. The Cycle of death and birth is end-less. Who is doing it or how is it happening ? We call it the Almighty power of God or power of (Nam) Shabad or ek Oongkar.
Our Soul is a part of God. Our Soul is to function in Nature that requires a body. So the body and its senses are used by the Soul to function. Let us look at wholesome body: body has 3 parts; physical body, body`s inner function along with brain, and 3rd Sou. The Soul spreads throughout the body.
The other power of God that’s called (Maya) controls the Soul. Maya has three characters:
1. (Rjo- gun) desire to dominate others and use it for own benefit, wealth and power.
2. ( Tamu- gun) desire to acquire worldly pleasers.
3. (Satoo-gun) desire of kind, humble and be a Spiritual being. These desires make us separated from God, even though we live in God and we breathe in God.
Shabadà
According to Guru Nanak, teaching Oo-angkar is a Shabad sound which created the entire Universe. O-ankar is in the Consciousness as life stores. O-ankar created the Brahma and Vedas. O-ankar saves the Gurmukh.
“Both birth and death comes about by Shabad. Rebirth too is because of Shabad”, says Guru Amar das ji.

With the true word, one knows the truth. With the true sound, one sings the glory of the Lord” says Guru Nanak dev ji.
“In the beginning was the word, the word was with God, and the word was God. Through him all things were made without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life. The word became flesh.” says Saint John said.
Meditationà
Meditation is to be all alone with Him. No another thought should come during His remembrance. All that you are: should be aware of Him and feel His presence.
Our body is a combination of Physical and Spiritual body (Soul). Our Spiritual body (Soul) lives in four states.
1) Awake state- (Jagat)The mind is aware of all our senses. And is attached with world.
2) Dream state-(Supan) The mind is awake but it not aware of the body`s senses. The body Conscious is with-drawn by Soul and the body is in sleep mode.
3) Deep sleep state-(Sushupti) The mind is asleep with body, yet the Soul is aware of its own self in peace.
4) Absolute Happiness state-(Turiya) It comes during the Meditation when we are in deep Samadi, the Soul is in tune with the higher power as follows.
